For many years Channel 5 showed live matches from the UEFA Europa League and when the package was centralised Channel 5 became the principal rights holder, sharing coverage of the group stages with ITV Sport and ESPN. Channel 5 also held UK rights for the Europa League Final. The channel showed the 2008 FIFA Club World Championship.
