Derbyshire. Belper(/ˈbɛlpər/) is a town and civil parishin the local government districtof Amber Valleyin Derbyshire, England, located about 7 miles (11 km) north of Derbyon the River Derwent. Along with Belper, the parish includes the village of Milfordand the hamlets of Bargate, Blackbrook, and Makeney.

It is a linear settlement as it has only one main road running through it: Belper Road which becomes Sandbed Lane (at the top Bargate Road) runs from Holbrook to Openwoodgate. Bargate Road runs down to Belper from the junction of Belper road and Sandbed Lane.
